MacroPurge Instructions

MacroPurge ONLY works on machines running Office 2004. This is because the default Word template is located in the Users folder. In prior versions of Office it was located in the Applications folder, and can not be modified without an Administrator password.

Step 1 - Verify that the computer you want to disinfect is running Office 2004. Launch Word and check "About Word" if you're not sure.

Step 2 - Download MacroPurge.zip. Double-click to extract the file. Then double-click on MacroPurge.command to launch the program.

        - It will scan the entire home folder of the logged in user and scan any file with the .doc extension. If it detects the Macro, it will open it and resave as a clean file. You will need to click "Disable Macros" for each file, otherwise it will copy the infection to the new file.
        - Continue to click "Disable Macros" until the "Process Completed" message is displayed in the Terminal window.
